Our Story
Shelley’s Panel Shop was established in October of 1983 by Founder and current owner Mark Witten. He had a small ‘unofficial’ business, spray-painting and panel beating out of his Athlone home which provided services for friends, neighbors and those who heard through word-of-mouth. As the business grew, Mark realized that it was essential that he formalize operations and systems and hence opened Shelley’s Panel Shop
Our History
Initially, majority of the work taken on by Shelley’s Panel Shop, was local clients and car dealerships and surrounding businesses that required small repairs carried out on their vehicles.
At the time, Shelley’s was not equipped to deal with major repairs as the required equipment was largely out of reach. Although small, Shelley’s Panel Shop persisted in pushing the boundaries of its capabilities and through re-investing the company’s small profits to fund its growth, Mark was soon able to approach Insurance companies as a Major structural repairer, which would take on any job thrown at it.
Shelley’s has been operating as a highly successful, well thought of, family business subsequently and providing service to both the public and the corporate sector for more than 30 years. Since its inception, both of Mark’s Sons, Kyle and Matthew have joined the business, heading up Operations and Client and Corporate management while Debbie, Mark’s wife manages the Admin sector.
Our Team
We are privileged to have a trustworthy, reliable, ambitious long-term staff of 30 working with us who are committed to maintaining excellent levels of service and ongoing success of the business. They enjoy working in an environment which is simultaneously relaxed and highly professional. We are a black Economic Empowerment Company who has strived over the years to uplift our staff members and our local community.
Our Philosophy
First and foremost, always understand the client as this is essential to meeting their need as each and every one may have different expectations we will need to tend to in order to ensure maximum customer satisfaction. We insist on doing more than what is required. It’s simple; no harm can come from it.
There is only one boss, and that is the customer.
Always be open to new challenges, even if they seem
daunting. We push the boundaries of our shop every day; this keeps things interesting and sparks creativity and originality which inspires progress, constantly forcing us to improve.
We always keep in mind that this shop
cannot function without our staff and therefore remember that everyone shows up not only to move Shelley’s Panel Shop forward but to grow as an individual and therefore we encourage them to be highly productive on both a professional and personal level and break their own boundaries.
